Biographical Information

Pitcher Hideaki Aikawa played for the Yokohama Taiyo Whales from 1986 to 1989 and in 1991. He was drafted by the Whales in the 5th round of 1985 NPB draft. Though the young pitcher got off to a semi-promising start -- he was 4-0 with a 4.22 ERA in 59 2/3 innings in 1986 and he had a 3.96 mark in 77 1/3 frames the next year -- he struggled the final three campaigns of his career (ERAs of 4.88, 6.10 and 9.00, respectively). Overall, he was 12-13 with a 4.45 ERA in 75 games (36 starts).
