Biographical Information

Herb Harris, born in Chicago, IL, was one of the first pitchers from Northwestern University to come to the major leagues. He was at Northwestern from 1932 to 1934, and Ed Lagger was there in 1934. Lagger, also an Illinois boy, came up to the majors in 1934 while Harris made it in 1936. They both came up with Philly, one in each league. The 1936 Philadelphia Phillies lost 100 games, and Herb pitched in four games during the summer. He was four years younger than Bucky Walters, the star of the staff.

Harris later went on to serve in the Navy during World War II and then had a long career in sales.
