Biographical Information[edit]

Hector Astacio is the cousin of Pedro Astacio. Hector pitched and coached in the minors.

Astacio was 3-2 with a save and a 3.07 ERA for the 2001 AZL Angels, walking only six in 44 IP. He fell to 6-3, 4.72 with the Provo Angels in 2002 and ranked among the Pioneer League leaders in wins (tied for 5th) and wild pitches (11, tied for 4th). He was awful in 2003, split between Provo (0-3, 11.39) and the Cedar Rapids Kernels (2-2, 4.18), with 82 hits and 60 runs in 55 2/3 IP. In 2004, he toiled for the Arkansas Travelers (5.02 ERA in 6 G), Salt Lake Stingers (2 R in 3 1/3 IP) and Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (1-1, 5.54). He did not pitch in 2005 due to injury then allowed two runs in three innings for the 2006 DSL Angels to end his playing career.
