Hato Mayor (province)

Hato Mayor province is located in the eastern Dominican Republic, on the north coast, on Samana Bay, which is an inlet of the Gulf of Mexico. Its capital is Hato Mayor del Rey, whose name is often shortened to just "Hato Mayor", causing some confusion between the city and the province. Other significant cities are Sabana de la Mar. The province extends quite a ways south, almost reaching the city limits of San Pedro de Macoris, San Pedro de Macoris, which is a port on the Caribbean Sea side of the island.
