Harvey Shapiro is a longtime college coach.
Shapiro was coach at Schenectady County Community College (1976?) [1], Springfield College (assistant 1973-1975?, 1977?-1983), Bowdoin College (189-193-5 from 1984-1998) and the University of Hartford (1999-2004). Shapiro is currently (as of 2021) manager of the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod League, a position he has held since 2003. The Braves are his second CCBL team as he had previously skippered the Falmouth Commodores from 1994-1998. He has coached Darin Erstad, Jeff Weaver, Adam Kennedy and Micah Owings among others. He coached the Amstel Tijgers to their first two Hoofdklasse titles, 1979-1980.
From 1984-1986, Shapiro was head coach of the Dutch national team, winning the 1985 European Championship and working in the 1984 Amateur World Series and 1986 Amateur World Series. He also has run baseball clinics in Zimbabwe, Germany and South Africa.
Shapiro was also head women's basketball coach at Springfield and Bowdoin.
