Biographical Information[edit]

Harvey Branch's major league career consisted of one start for the St. Louis Cardinals on September 18, 1962. He was acquired by the Cardinals in a trade with the Chicago Cubs, who originally signed Harvey back in 1958, in return for Paul Toth on September 1st. Facing the Cubs, he allowed 3 runs on 5 hits and as many walks in 5 innings and was charged with the 4-3 loss.

In all, Branch played seven seasons in pro ball in the Cardinals and Cubs organizations. Harvey had a good year in the Midwest League for the Paris Lakers in 1958. He posted an ERA of 2.69 with 213 strikeouts and, in September, had a game in which he threw 21 strikeouts against the Clinton Pirates. Source: Highlights. Dr. Branch went to college at Alabama State University, and received his masters and doctorate degrees from Jacksonville Theological Seminary. He has served as a chaplain and a pastor in Tennessee. He is also an author. [1]
