Biographical Information[edit]
Harry Vahrenhorst had one appearance as a pinch-hitter with the 1904 St. Louis Browns. He was later a minor league pitcher, signed by Terre Haute in 1907 and playing for Jackson in 1908.
An article about Vancouver in 1908 mentions his brother Arthur Vahrenhorst, who was injured, released by the team, and who spent weeks wandering drunk throughout the city. 1908 Beavers.
After baseball Harry was a bricklayer.
He is not to be confused with a player of a similar name, Woody Wagenhorst.
"Varenhorst (sic). whose name appears in a St. Louis score, is a Mound City youngster who has been playing independent ball with the Gittins. He is a lightly built chap and young, but has been doing some heavy batting for the Gittins." - Sporting Life, October 1, 1904 issue
