- Bats Unknown, Throws Unknown
Biographical Information[edit]
Harry Scherer played one game in the outfield for the Louisville Colonels of the American Association on July 24, 1889. The game was played in Baltimore, MD and it was surmised that Scherer came from that town, although nothing else about him was known.
Harry is found in the 1880 Census as being 12 years old and living with his parents in Baltimore. The family was still living at the same address in 1890, according to that year's city directory. Harry's main profession was as an actor, performing comedy and other forms of entertainment. He died in New York City in 1897 and his obituary was published in the New York Dramatic Mirror, a trade publication of the acting profession. He was buried in Brooklyn's Evergreen Cemetery.
