Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Harry Morelock played 4 games for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1891, and one more in 1892. He went 1 for 17 during the 5 games, good for an .059 batting average.

After his playing days, he lived in Philadelphia, PA for a number of years, and last appears there in the 1930 census, living with his wife Margaret and two children, Harry and Lillian. When Pennsylvania finally opened some of its vital statistics records to researchers in 2011, there was no trace of a death for Harry, however. What researchers did find is that Lillian lived to be 106, passing away in 2009. Further research concerning her uncovered that she had received proceeds from her father's will after he had died in New Jersey in 1949. This information also made it possible to trace Morelock's great-granddaughter, who not only confirmed that she was indeed descended from the ballplayer, but still had a picture of him in uniform.
