Biographical Information[edit]
Harry "Jimmy" Mace pitched three games for the Washington Statesmen in 1891. He also played for Terre Haute that year.
Mace was in the minors at age 19 with Greenville. He later managed at Wilmington in 1902. An article from the Wilmington Star-News states that he was an umpire but resigned to become a manager.
In 1903, he worked one American League game as an umpire. The Roanoke Times in 1909 carried an article indicating that a Harry Mace would again be umpiring in the Virginia League.[1]
The book Louis Sockalexis: The First Cleveland Indian mentions a team put together in Alexandria, VA by one Harry Mace in 1897.
