Biographical Information[edit]

"Mack has picked up a southpaw pitcher named Eccles from the Jamestown, N. Y., independent team who looks like his best pick-up in years. This lad has never had any professional experience, but has pitched great ball for five innings of two games, when he was sent to the relief of a hurler in distress." - Sporting Life, September 25, 1915

Harry Eccles pitched five games for the 1915 Philadelphia Athletics.

He served in World War I and afterwards was a mail carrier and farm laborer. Source: Harry Eccles.

The Oswego Palladium-Times of June 3, 1955 carries an obituary which indicates that Eccles developed a sore arm in 1915 which caused him to quit baseball.
