Biographical Information[edit]

Harry DeMiller pitched four games for the Chicago Colts under manager Cap Anson in 1892. Sporting Life (issue of August 27, 1892) stated that Harry had been part of the Peoria and Aurora teams of the "defunct" I.-I. League. A later issue said he had been with Ishpeming of the Michigan-Wisconsin League.

He was apparently not taken on a road trip with the Colts in late September. It was stated in Sporting Life that he was an athlete, his "stronghold" being wrestling. The paper called him "Miller".

"Anson tried his new southpaw find, Miller (sic). He let in two runs in the first, but evened up things by driving in three runs with a double in the third. He held the Brooklyns to five hits in seven innings, but was touched up . . . in the eighth . . . and a very questionable decision by (umpire) Snyder gave the game to Brooklyn." - Sporting Life, August 27, 1892 issue, about Harry's first major league appearance

". . . pitcher Miller appears to be a promising ball player all over, and is worth holding on to." - October 15, 1892 issue of Sporting Life
