Biographical Information[edit]

Harold Shade played in the post-integration Negro leagues, playing for, perhaps among others, the Detroit Stars and Memphis Red Sox. The third baseman represented the East in the 1956 East-West Game. He was the first African-American police officer in the Army base at Fort Riley. He later taught in the Chicago public schools.
