The Harligen Hubs were members of the 1938 Texas Valley League. Based in Harlingen, TX, the club finished second in the regular season to the Corpus Christi Spudders. After the 84-53 regular season, they swept through the post-season, winning 7 straight, including the final four from Corpus Christi to win the only Texas Valley League title. The team was managed by Jake Atz. SS Damon Phillips (.337/~.400/.393) would eventually play in the majors. 1B Bill McClaren tied for the league lead with 20 homers and batted .321/~.371/.523. Joining him on the league's All-Star team were 3B Red Mays (.315/~.416/.491, 41 steals), CF Roger Rotoni (.296/~.404/.388, 39 SB) and LHP Gene Hinrichs (27-8, 223 K, 2.82, league leader in K and wins and also with 310 IP and second in ERA).
