Biographical Information[edit]

Hao-Yu Lee has played in the minors and for the Chinese Taipei National team.

Lee hit .500/.538/.750 with 7 RBI and 7 doubles in the 2015 U-12 Baseball World Cup, helping Taiwan win the Gold Medal. [1] He led the tournament in doubles. Lee then represented Taiwan in the 2018 U-15 Baseball World Cup, hitting .360/.485/.560 with a homer and 6 RBI to help Taiwan win the Bronze. [2] In the 2019 U-18 Baseball World Cup, Lee recorded a .300/.444/.400 batting line and Taiwan beat the USA to win the Gold Medal. [3]

The Philadelphia Phillies signed him in 2021 with a $650K signing bonus, and Lee hit .364/.440/.773 with the FCL Phillies in his rookie year.[4] The young slugger mainly stayed in the A Clearwater Threshers with a .283/.384/.415 batting line in 2022, and got a promotion to the Lakewood BlueClaws on August 26. He had a .257/.350/.486 batting line in 9 games. Lee played with BlueClaws in 2023, and he hit .283/.372/.401 with 5 homers, then the Phillies traded him to the Detroit Tigers for Michael Lorenzen. Unfortunately, Lee suffered from a left knee injury, so he only played 8 games with the A+ West Michigan Whitecaps. He represented Taiwan in the 2022 Asian Games (held in 2023, due to delays from COVID-19), but he only hit .125/.250/.188. Taiwan still got the Silver. He had now won all three colors of medals in international tournaments, and was only 20 years old. [5]
