Hamilton Mountaineers
In 1888 the Hamilton Hams changed their names to the Hamilton Mountaineers. The team from Hamilton, ON finished third in the International Association their first year, going 66-44 under manager Harry Fisher. Pete Wood was the team's leading batter (.322) and pitcher (1.80 ERA in 51 games on the mound). 2B Wiman Andrus hit just .239, but led the club in runs (102) and steals (89).
The team became the Hams again in 1889 then in 1890 were the Mountaineers once more. Managed by Jimmy Dean, Hamilton moved to Montreal, QC on June 23, becoming the Montreal Canadiens.
