Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Hal Dedmon played in the minor leagues in 1946, from 1948 to 1949 and from 1951 to 1952. Perhaps his best year was his first -- in 93 games with the Bluefield Blue-Grays, he slashed .318/.397/.439 with 4 home runs, 58 RBI and 105 hits. He had another solid year with the Shelby Farmers in 1949, hitting .285/.405/.420 with 8 home runs, 75 RBI and 107 hits in 101 games. He also managed the club for part of the season, replacing Joe Borich; he, himself, was then replaced by Walt Dixon. Overall, Dedmon hit .294 with 312 hits in 293 games. Prior to his baseball career, he served in the Air Force during World War II.
