Biographical Information[edit]
Hae-chong Park played for the South Korean national team and in the Korea Baseball Organization.
Park won Bronze with South Korea in the 1973 Asian Championship, then Gold in the 1975 Asian Championship, their second Gold in an Asian Championship. [1] He next played in the 1975 Intercontinental Cup. [2] He then was with them for a Gold in the 1977 Intercontinental Cup, their first Gold in a global tournament. [3] In the 1978 Amateur World Series, he hit .361/.410/.417 as the DH for the Bronze Medal winners. He tied Il-kwon Kim for the team lead in OPS and only Kim had more RBI than his 5. [4]
His pro career was not as strong. The KBO didn't form until he was 29 years old. He debuted in the league in 1984 at age 31. A backup catcher for the OB Bears, he hit .228/.308/.281 in 65 plate appearances over 27 games. In 30 plate appearances in 1985, he fell to .185/.233/.185. [5]
