Gustavo Mackliz pitched one season in the minors, going 12-1 with a 3.60 ERA for the 1972 Sultanes de Monterrey. He led the Mexican Center League in starts (16), wins, winning percentage, innings (125), hits allowed (131) and strikeouts (82). He was 4th in ERA. He joined ERA leader Humberto Valenzuela as the MCL's two All-Star pitchers.
