Biographical Information

Almost nothing is known about pitcher Gus Yost. In fact, different Chicago newspapers list his last name as Kost or Jost. There was also an August Rost living in Chicago whose birth date would work for this player, but there is no other source of corroboration. In fact, since the one game he appeared in for the 1893 Chicago Colts was played in Washington, DC, he could well also be someone from that city.
