Biographical Information[edit]
Right-fielder Gus Williams played five years for the St. Louis Browns. In his best year, 1912, he posted a line of .292/.370/.444 in 64 games, also stealing 18 bases.
Williams struck out a lot in 1913 and 1914, finished second in the American League in 1913 and first in 1914. His 120 strikeouts in 1914 was an American League record (stats are not available before 1913) that wasn't broken until 1953 (by Larry Doby).
He is not to be confused with another Gus Williams.
