Biographical Information[edit]
After his junior year of high school, Gus Stathos signed a contract wth the Philadelphia Phillies and was not allowed to compete in baseball as a senior. After graduation he served in the Navy at the end of World War II.
Stathos, an outfielder, played for the Salina Blue Jays in 1946, then spent 1947-1951 in the Brooklyn Dodgers chain. In 1952 he played semi-pro ball and in 1953-1954 he was with the Calgary Stampeders. Finally, Stathos ended his career with 37 games for his hometown Sacramento Solons in 1954.
His brother, Tony Stathos, played seven years in the minor leagues.
