Biographical Information[edit]
Gus Brittain, who was born in Wilmington, NC, began his minor league career in Wilmington with the Wilmington Pirates. He played parts of three seasons for the Pirates before going on to other teams. At age 27, he came to the majors with the 1937 Cincinnati Reds, getting into three games. He then went back to the minors and played till 1946, missing some of the war years. He began managing in the minors in 1940, and compiled four years as a manager.
