Biographical Information[edit]
Grover Gilmore was a regular outfielder with the Kansas City Packers during both years of the Federal League.
He is one of four players (through 2007) with the last name Gilmore. He is one of six players with the first name Grover, or seven if you count Pete Alexander.
In 1911 he was with the Denver Grizzlies, a team which won 111 games. Grover hit .299. Two of his Denver teammates played with him in Kansas City in 1914-15, Bill "Iron Duke" Kenworthy and Ben Harris.
According to an article in the New York Times in July 1912, Gilmore lost a watch that had been given to him by President William Howard Taft. The theft got some publicity, and the watch was returned. Gilmore had been released by San Francisco and was on his way to Buffalo, although the article does not say if he was going to play for Buffalo.
