Grays Harbor Mets

From BR Bullpen

In 1977, 1978 and 1980 Hoquiam, WA and Aberdeen, WA were represented in the Northwest League by the independent Grays Harbor Loggers. In 1979 the area was home to a New York Mets farm club. Some sources list them as the Loggers that year as well, but some list it as the Grays Harbor Mets. Managed by Danny Monzon, the club had a horrendous year, going 19-52, the worst record in the NWL. Finishing 6th of 8 teams in attendance (16,665), the team was last in offense (278 runs) and pitching/defense (437 runs allowed), getting outscored by an average of 3.9-6.2. The team had no All-Stars. OF Rusty Tillman (.295/~.390/.392, 18 SB in 21 tries) was the top offensive performer, Randall Burkman (1-2, 2.25) had the best ERA and SS Jose Oquendo (.227/~.331/.277, .868 fielding at shortstop) probably had the most notable career.
