Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Gonzalo Garcia spent four years in the minor leagues, playing from 1952 to 1955.

Though his .311 career batting average and .451 slugging mark look somewhat gaudy, it must be remembered that he played in high-offense southern leagues. With the Yuma Panthers of the Southwest International League in 1952, he hit .303 with 155 hits and 29 doubles, tying Fern Paredes for fifth in the league in doubles. He played for the El Paso Texans of the Arizona-Texas League (1953–1954) and West Texas-New Mexico League (1955) for the rest of his career, batting .337 with 185 hits and 15 triples (which was second in the league behind Eduardo Cruz's 24) in 1953, .307/.400/.482 with 19 home runs, 138 runs scored, 102 RBI, 22 stolen bases and 85 walks in 1954 and .226 in 31 games in 1955.
