Biographical Information

Goffrey Bennett has been on the Nicaraguan national team.

Bennett was 2-2 with a save and a 3.80 ERA for Costa Caribe in his 2017 debut. He was 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA in 2018 and 3-4, 6.92 in '19. In 2020, he was 2-0, allowing 15 runs (all earned) in 12 1/3 IP. After three years of rising ERAs, he moved to Zelaya Central and improved to 10-1 with six saves and a 1.40 ERA in 2021 (he was also 2-2 with a save and a 2.25 ERA that year for Grenada).

The right-hander was on Nicaragua's team for the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He and Danilo Bermudez were their only pitchers not to be used as Nicaragua won a spot in the 2023 World Baseball Classic for their first World Baseball Classic. In the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games Central American Qualifier, he closed out the opening win over Honduras, relieving Duque Hebbert. He struck out the side - Walter Aguilar, Sebastian Lanza and Maycol Cockborn. He also went 1-2-3 in wrapping up their 13-1 win over Honduras in the finale. Taking over for Joaquín Acuña, he struck out Guilmar Ruiz and retired Marco Amaya and Eduardo Diaz.
