Biographical Information[edit]
Goffrey Bennett has been on the Nicaraguan national team.
Bennett was 2-2 with a save and a 3.80 ERA for Costa Caribe in his 2017 debut. [1] He was 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA in 2018 and 3-4, 6.92 in '19. In 2020, he was 2-0, allowing 15 runs (all earned) in 12 1/3 IP. After three years of rising ERAs, he moved to Zelaya Central and improved to 10-1 with six saves and a 1.40 ERA in 2021 (he was also 2-2 with a save and a 2.25 ERA that year for Grenada).
The right-hander was on Nicaragua's team for the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He and Danilo Bermudez were their only pitchers not to be used as Nicaragua won a spot in the 2023 World Baseball Classic for their first World Baseball Classic. [2] In the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games Central American Qualifier, he closed out the opening win over Honduras, relieving Duque Hebbert. He struck out the side - Walter Aguilar, Sebastian Lanza and Maycol Cockborn. He also went 1-2-3 in wrapping up their 13-1 win over Honduras in the finale. Taking over for Joaquín Acuña, he struck out Guilmar Ruiz and retired Marco Amaya and Eduardo Diaz. [3]
