Biographical information[edit]
Glenn Gerdes was the de jure head baseball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1979. Steve Olson served as the de facto head coach that season.
Gerdes, a World War II veteran, earned a bachelor's degree from Iowa State Teachers College, a master's degree from the University of Iowa, and a doctorate from Indiana University. He was an instructor and coach at several institutions before moving to Superior in 1965. He was the golf coach at UW-Superior.
He participated in football and track and field for Iowa State Teachers College, now the University of Northern Iowa.
