Glenn Steven Albanese Jr.

Biographical Information[edit]

Glenn Albanese has pitched in the minors and for the Italian national team.

He was All-Conference in baseball and football in high school. [1] He was 1-1 with a 3.72 ERA for Louisville in 2019, then was 0-1 with a 6.64 ERA for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod League. He had a 2.08 ERA and 18 K in 8 2/3 IP in 2020 before the season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. In '21, he was 3-1 with a 3.71 ERA.

The Los Angeles Angels took him in the 15th round of the 2021 amateur draft and he signed for a $125,000 bonus. The scout was John Burden. [2]

The big right-hander was 0-1 with a 2.35 ERA that summer for the Tri-City Dust Devils. In '22, he pitched for the Dust Devils (1-1, 5 Sv, 3.41 in 27 G) and Rocket City Trash Pandas (Sv, 4.66 in 5 G). He tied Kyle Hill and Luke Taggart for 9th in the Northwest League in saves. He next suited up for Italy (largely Italian-American as a team) for the 2023 World Baseball Classic and made one appearance, against Panama. He relieved Matteo Bocchi in the 9th with a 2-0 deficit. He got José Ramos on a fly, allowed a single to Edgar Muñoz, got Jhonny Santos to hit into a force then retired Allen Córdoba on a fly. [3]
