Biographical Information

Glen Tuckett played for seven seasons in the minors then was a college coach.

Tuckett turned pro with the 1948 Salt Lake City Bees, hitting .213/.351/.305 in 69 games as a backup middle infielder for his hometown team. In 1949, he batted .218/.332/.316 for the squad, then he was 14 for 48 with 9 walks, 3 doubles and a homer in 1950. He was a utility infielder for the 1951 Salem Senators, posting a .265/.354/.310 batting line.

In 1952, he played 47 games for Salem and 101 for the Lewiston Broncs, hitting a combined .220/.317/.286 while fielding .968 at second between the two Western International League teams. He was with Lewiston for all of '53, hitting .249/.304/.341 with 71 runs while fielding .972 as their main second baseman again. He wound down his playing career in 1954, split between Lewiston and Salem, batting .249/.303/.327 overall for the season.

He coached at West High School before becoming head baseball coach and assistant football coach at Brigham Young University in 1959; he was head baseball coach through 1976. He was 445-246-4. He was then BYU's athletic director. His teams went to the 1968 College World Series and 1973 College World Series. He managed Team USA to a Gold Medal in the 1974 Amateur World Series. He won the ABCA/Wilson Lefty Gomez Award in 1990.
