Gilberto Avilés (Gilo)

Gilberto Avilés is the brother of Ramón Avilés and uncle? of Mike Aviles. He was on the Puerto Rican national team in the 1980 Amateur World Series and 1984 Amateur World Series. In 1984, he hit .280/.294/.340 while fielding .968 as their main third baseman; he drove in six runs in 13 games to tie Andres Negron for the team lead. Gilo was a long-time player and manager in Puerto Rico's top amateur league.
