Biographical information[edit]
Jerry Thomas was a pitcher who is most notable for winning the 1956 College World Series Most Outstanding Player award while a junior at University of Minnesota. He is one of three players from University of Minnesota to win that award. The others are John Erickson and Dave Winfield.
He was also an All-American in 1956.
He is the brother of major leaguer George Thomas, and played with George at Minnesota as well as at Augusta in the minors. Source: SABR Biograpy of George Thomas.
Jerry played several years in the minors after college, from 1957 to 1960. He was 31-30 in 132 games.
He was inducted into the University of Minnesota sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
