George Taylor was a first baseman and outfielder in the pre-Negro Leagues from ?? to 1907. He also played as a catcher at times too. He made his first recorded appearance in 1895 with the Page Fence Giants in a tournament featuring the best black stars versus the Cincinnati Reds. He was 3-for-8 with a double, walk, run and a RBI against the Reds. In 1897, he was 0 for 4 against other top black teams. He was 0 for 4 for the Chicago Columbia Giants in 1900.
In '03, he was 3-for-17 for the Chicago Union Giants then 1-for-6 the next year. He was 2 for 9 with a double and a walk for the Leland Giants in 1905, and hit .313/.344/.313 for them in 1906. He had a team-high seven runs in the game details discovered as of this writing. He was 1-for-2 with a a walk for the 1907 St. Paul Gophers to end his career.
