Biographical Information[edit]

George Spelius was president of the Midwest League in 1987-2015. He was a founder of the Beloit Snappers after having run a flower shop in Beloit, WI. He was on a US Army team that won the 1958 Far East Championship. He is the father-in-law of umpire Marty Foster. He twice won the Warren Giles Award for outstanding service as a league president, in 1997 and 2010.
