Biographical Information[edit]
George Sifft played in the minor leagues from 1946 to 1951. He had a few seasons of note, hitting .308/.454/.569 with 11 home runs, a Mountain States League-leading 20 triples, 68 RBI, 86 runs scored and 93 walks (to 56 strikeouts) in 102 games for the Newport Canners in 1948, .337 with 143 hits (including 10 triples) for Newport in 1950 and .325 in 114 games between two clubs in 1951. He served as the manager of the Norton Braves for part of the 1951 campaign, replacing Bob Bowman and being replaced by George Motto on July 29.
Overall, he hit .300 in his career.
A World War II veteran, he served in the United States military from 1942 to 1946.
