Biographical Information

George Schultz pitched in the minor leagues from 1904 to 1910. He played for the Rochester Bronchos in 1904 and 1905, going 6-22 while allowing 102 walks and 245 hits in his inaugural season, leading the Eastern League in losses. If it was any consolation, the club as a whole won only 28 games, while losing 105. In 1905, he went 13-21, leading the EL in losses once again (again one more than the runner-up, in this case John Pappalau. The next three pitchers in losses all would spend time in the majors during their careers). His 93 walks were second in the EL behind Larry Hesterfer; everyone else in the top 10 would appear in the majors at some point.

He pitched for Rochester and the Newark Sailors in 1906, going 1-1 in 15 innings. In 1907, he appeared in 32 games for the Scranton Miners and in 1908, he went 25-10 in 38 games. He pitched 313 1/3 innings, allowing 240 hits and 63 walks. In a reversal of fortunes, he finished second in the New York State League in victories, behind Ivor Wagner's 27.

He appeared in 35 games for Scranton in 1909. He returned to Scranton for 1910, going 11-17 in 28 games. He tied for third in the New York State League in defeats.

He died from tuberculosis in 1914.
