Biographical Information[edit]

George Reid played three years of minor league baseball. He hit .202 for the 1953 Muskogee Giants He did well for the Pauls Valley Raiders that year, though, batting .302 with 15 homers and 89 RBI. He was 7th in the Sooner State League in home runs. In '54, Reid hit .288 with 16 homers and 73 RBI for the St. Cloud Rox. He tied for seventh in the Northern League in circuit clouts. He slipped in 1955, hitting .291 with only 4 HR and 65 RBI for the Rock Hill Chiefs and .167 in a brief spell for the High Point-Thomasville Hi-Toms.

Teammate Bill O'Donnell writes that he "was an outfielder on the 1954 St. Cloud Rox. He was a tall, strong, wiry athlete from Alabama, who had a strong throwing arm. He may have tried pitching at one time. He was a free-swinger as a hitter, and could hit with good power, although I'm not sure he hit for a good average."
