Biographical Information[edit]

George Lombard was also a football standout at Atlanta's Lovett School and signed a football scholarship as a running back with the University of Georgia and was considered one of UGAs top recruits at the time. He never played football though instead opting to play pro baseball after being drafted, and handed a big bonus, by his hometown Atlanta Braves.

Lombard was a coach for the Lowell Spinners in 2010 before being named manager of the GCL Red Sox in 2011. In 2016, he was named first base coach of the Los Angeles Dodgers, staying until 2020, the year the Dodgers won a World Series title. In 2021, he was appointed bench coach of the Detroit Tigers.

Lombard's son George Lombard Jr., a shortstop, was drafted in the 1st round of the 2023 Amateur Draft by the New York Yankees.
