Biographical Information[edit]
George Gilham played for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1920 and 1921.
His obituary in the April 26, 1937 issue states that he began in pro ball soon after graduation from Girard College in 1914. When he reached the majors, a broken arm hurt his career, and he then played outfield in the minors and for semi-pro clubs in Philadelphia. He received a degree from Temple University in 1927 and served a physical education director at a couple of locations. He also coached baseball at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy. He died before he was 40, of Hodgkin's disease. The obituary said he was survived by his mother, two brothers and two sisters.
