Biographical Information[edit]

George Fisher was nearly 29 years old when he came to the majors first with the Cleveland Blues of the National League in 1884. He also played later that season with the Wilmington Quicksteps of the Union Association. In total, he played 6 games at second base, 6 in the outfield at center and right, 2 at shortstop and 1 at catcher. His salary with Wilmington was listed as $150/mo. [1]

Apparently he also pitched in the minors, as well as playing various positions. The Wilmington Daily Gazette of August 15, 1883 states that Fisher, of the "old Quickstep" team, is playing well with a team in Albuquerque, NM.
