Biographical Information[edit]

George T. Fair had a long life and a short major league career. He appeared in one game for the New York Mutuals on July 29, 1876. At 20 years of age, he was one of the youngest players in the league. He played second base, a position normally manned by Bill Craver. He also played in the New England League.

There is however some question regarding his identity, as the player is listed as "Thayer" in some boxscores, and he was once recorded in player lists as Edward Thayer. More research is needed to clear up the mystery.
