Biographical Information[edit]

George Canale hit 76 career home runs in college, which places him 7th all-time in NCAA Division I (through 2019). He played for Team USA in the 1985 Intercontinental Cup and was signed as a 6th round pick in the 1986 amateur draft by the Milwaukee Brewers and scout Ken Califano. Canale played 44 games in the majors from 1989 to 1991, hitting .164, with a minor league career that stretched from 1986 to 1998, belting over 150 homers on the farm. He also won a home run title in the Italian Serie A1 in 1996 and hit .331/.405/.585 with 20 homers in 91 games in Taiwan in 1997, finishing 4th in average, homers and slugging.

His uncle, Justin Canale, played in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes in the 1970s and in the AFL from 1965 to 1969. Another uncle, Whit Canale, played in the AFL.
