Biographical Information[edit]
George Bonhag was the first Olympic walking champion then was part of the Silver Medal team in the 3-mile run in the 1908 Olympics. In the 1912 Olympics, he was part of the US men's team that won Gold in the 3,000 meter race. He also played in the baseball exhibition, starting at first base for the US and going 0-for-2 while handling six putouts before Vaughn Blanchard replaced him. He and Fred Kelly were the only Gold Medal winners on the US team in the game.
