Biographical Information[edit]

Shortstop George Ambrow was initially drafted by the New York Mets in the first round, 23rd overall, of the 1970 amateur draft out of high school, but he did not sign. He was picked just ahead of utility player James West and right after outfielder Bob Gorinski. In the 1974 amateur draft January Regular Phase, he was taken by the California Angels in the 18th round, the only player taken in that round.

He never played a game of professional baseball.
