Biographical Information[edit]
Eugene Spangler played for the Portland Gulls in 1946, hitting .282 with two home runs and 14 doubles in 48 games. That year, he also played in six games for the National Football League's Detroit Lions, making four kick returns.
Following his playing days, he served as a teacher and baseball coach in Sarasota County schools and was principal of Brookside Middle School for 15 years.
He served in the U.S. military during World War II.
