Biographical Information[edit]

Gene Schott pitched in the major leagues for five years in the lively ball era. He ranked in the top 10 in the league in ERA in 1937 with a 2.97, but his record was only 4-13 for a team that lost 98 games. The previous year he had gone 11-11.

Pitched for Toronto Maple Leafs of the International League in 1934.

In January 1937, he and Lee Grissom appeared in a photo rowing a boat over the center field fence in Crosley Field after a rainstorm flooded the field.

One fan named him to the "all sports bar team", along with Brandy Davis, Norm Sherry, Johnny Lush, Bobby Wine, Jack Daniels, Ed Pabst, and others.
