Biographical Information[edit]
Gary McClure coached college baseball for over two decades.
McClure was an infielder in college. He was a student assistant coach in 1987 after using up his playing eligibility. He was interim head coach at Austin Peay State University in 1988, going 23-27, then was promoted to head coach.
In 1994, Austin Peay won its first Ohio Valley Conference regular season title. They won again in 1996, when they also won the OVC Tournament for the first time and set a school record with 44 wins. McClure led Austin Peay to OVC regular season titles in 2003 and 2004 (with a OVC-record 20 conference wins in '04). The school won the Conference Tournament in 2005 and 2007. He resigned after the 2015 season after being arrested on a patronizing prostitution charge.
McClure has helped develop Jamie Walker, George Sherrill, A.J. Ellis and Shawn Kelley.
