Biographical Information[edit]

Fritz Hamburg played one season in the minors then became a college.

Hamburg played for the Ithaca team that won the 1988 Division III College World Series. He hit .194/.358/.265 and fielded .982 as the #3 catcher for the 1990 Spartanburg Phillies, his lone season as a pro. He was an assistant at Cornell University, New Mexico State University, Cal-Poly Pomona, Georgia, Ithaca College and the United States Military Academy (2002-2008). In 2007, he was named Assistant Coach of the Year by Baseball America and the American Baseball Coaches Association for his work with the Army pitchers, including Nick Hill. Hamburg then became head coach of St. Joseph's University.
