Biographical Information[edit]
Fredo Olivares was the first Filipino to sign with a Japanese independent league team, inking a deal with the Shinano Grandserows Baseball Club in 2014. He was picked for the Philippines national team for the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers but did not play in either game as they went with ringer Brad Haynal. He had previously won Gold in the 2011 Southeast Asian Games and been the All-Star catcher in the 2015 East Asian Baseball Cup, hitting .278/.316/.389 for the champs.
