Biographical Information

Fred Zahner, from Louisville, KY, played for the Louisville Colonels in 1894-95, mostly at catcher. Before and after his major league days he played for a variety of minor league teams.

The Colonels in 1894 were an old team (average age 29.0) and Fred at age 24 was one of their youngest players.

He drowned after falling off a boat in the Ohio River.
